Stats, and the Biggest Day Yet
The site has a new page at aprsota.org/stats. Service-wide totals, a record book, and charts of everything since launch: points, QSOs, and ops per day, countries per week, and which commands get used. It recomputes hourly from the whole log, and it is linked in the footer of every page.
As I was watching what happened on 16 August (using Zulu time), it felt like a big day. The new stats confirmed my hunch. On 16 August, 24 ops went on the air and completed 123 QSOs worth 269 points, with hosts and chasers from:
- Austria
- Canada
- Costa Rica
- Dominican Republic
- Germany
- Puerto Rico
- Spain
- United Kingdom
- United States of America
This activity was not all on VHF. Some of the day’s QSOs were made with APRS over HF.
The day’s crown belongs to OE7BOE’s second op, run from grid JN57lh in the Tyrol Alps. They completed 11 QSOs in just over an hour for 30 points, the new top op in the record book. Worth a look, and now we have a new high-water mark to shoot for.
The stats implementation also laid key architectural groundwork. Everything on the page is computed in the background so page loads are snappy, which is exactly the machinery a leaderboard needs. Leaderboards are next.
